Sunshine Blogger Award – Answers … and Questions!

Valerie at Living Lighter in Atlanta (hi and thanks!) nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award a few weeks ago, and I hope it means I bring sunshine to my little corner of the internet. !! Below I answered her questions, and in turn I nominated several blogs which bring sunshine to my days (and laughs and ideas and comfort to this mommy). I listed ten questions for them to answer. Please accept my nomination!

What are three activities that bring you happiness?  1) Hiking in the forest, alone, especially in winter (some sort of romantic desolation?). 2) Reading – getting lost in the characters and setting in a book is literally priceless ecstasy (wow, that sounds creepier than I intended). 3) Traveling with family – more adventures, please!
When you are feeling down, what kinds of things do you do to try and lift your spirits?  Drink! Just kidding. I specifically do not drink if I feel down, actually. I probably involuntarily look for some chocolate, then just mope a bit til I feel better. Excellent coping mechanisms, I know….
What are some of your favorite funny movies (comedies)?  I’ve always loved Legally Blonde, and Pitch Perfect was really entertaining. I actually really like romantic comedies like Notting Hill, though I rarely watch them nowadays. Snatch and Groundhog Day were good, too.
Who is your favorite comedian, and what do you like about him/her?  Dave Chappelle really cracked me up, though he was so ephemeral. I suppose Jerry Seinfeld wins because – well, obviously! I’ve quoted Seinfeld probably more than anyone else in my life.
Does money buy happiness?  It can buy things that make you happy, sure – especially trips and a house and a car. But usually that happiness is temporary. Money can’t buy true love, and in the end that’s the only thing that matters in life.
Were your parents happy when you were growing up? Why do you think they were/were not?  Yes, definitely. They shared their passions with each other (and us) and always put family first. They had their rough points, of course, but always emerged stronger.
What makes you laugh out loud?  Corny jokes!
Does the weather affect your mood?  Yes, but not drastically. I love foggy days the best. I dislike really cloudy days and really sunny days. Mixed sun and clouds make me happy because I like the shade from clouds. Dark clouds and the winds before a storm make me excited. Heavy rainfall annoys me, but only when I have to schlepp the kids somewhere.
What in your life are you currently looking forward to?  Huh – nothing specifically. That’s pretty sad. Nothing in the future has a definite date to it, except one family trip in July which will probably be equal parts excitement and aggravation. I suppose I most look forward to checking some life goals off my list (like publishing a book!).

Here are the blogs I’m nominating:

Mummy123

Some Kind of Beautiful Chaos

Spruce and Gold

Who’s My Favorite Today (I know this isn’t the format of your typical posts, sorry!)

My Caffeinated Chaos

Inspire the Mom

Arty Mommy

And here are the questions I have for you:

  1. When were you happiest in the last week and why?
  2. Do you have a favorite creative endeavor?
  3. What’s your favorite drink (if you drink alcohol)?
  4. Who makes you laugh the most?
  5. What is your dream profession?
  6. Do you have a big life goal on your bucket list? What is it?
  7. If you could live any celebrity or athlete’s life, whose would it be?
  8. Do you tend a garden? What are your favorite bits in it?
  9. What is your favorite sport to do?
  10. What was your favorite travel spot so far?

Enjoy your week!

  1. Yay, I love this!! Yes, you absolutely bring sunshine to us (your readers!) here on your blog! 😀 Your answers made me smile and laugh, so thank you! I just watched the Bee Movie with Samuel a few weeks ago and even in that (sort of awful movie), Jerry did a fantastic job. His voice always gets me, and the way he uses inflection positively MAKES the jokes! 😀 I miss Seinfeld, so funny. I should see if his standup is on YouTube. Hmm…

  2. Thank you! You bring sunshine as well!! 🙂
Ahh, I should see that movie! Tonight at dinner I actually quoted Seinfeld, and then my husband laughed that we were quoting a 20+ year-old TV show to our kids … just like his parents quoted The Honeymooners when he was growing up. I felt very old – yet the Seinfeld days feel like yesterday still, eh?

    • LOL! I know, I can’t believe how long it’s been – I really do remember when the series finale came on. *sigh* And Frasier, did you like that one? And Friends? I loved television back then.

      • Ah, yes and yes! The golden age of sitcoms, I think. Television was much better then, I think – at least in some ways. More innocent … although I remember feeling like Friends was quite scandalous at the time. (Maybe I was sheltered….)
Btw speaking of TV, yesterday I saw the spitting image of Neegan – and I literally felt my heart quicken with fear until my rational side kicked in…!!

        • Sitcoms were more positive…happier maybe. People seem to want to watch negativity now, even sitcoms tend to feel more sarcastic. I like sarcasm when it’s good natured but I almost feel like current sarcasm isn’t that. :/ I don’t watch tv these days, lol.

  4. I love all your answers! And I too have quoted Jerry S more than anyone else (or I guess I’ve quoted every character from that show) except for the gems in Best in Show. Great, thoughtful responses — and thank you for the challenge!!
